I love words. They define things, give them shape, allow you to pin down on paper things which otherwise are lost to the flaws of unstable human memory. And they terrify me for just the same reason - a thing written down becomes static, fixed, immutable, Real.
So, books: I like fantasy, some sci-fi, psychological thrillers, mystery, horror. I read for character more than anything; I'm more likely to forgive plot issues if the characters are excellent than vice-versa.
Also, dragons are ♥ and automatically add a +10 in awesomeness, with additional bonus points if they have speaking parts and/or are main characters.

As to ratings, I tag things as follows:
Meh books: Wouldn't be bothered with reading more than once.
Books: Not bad, might buy if I had spare money and/or found secondhand.
Good books: Like! Definitely worth buying.
